What
is Reiki?
Reiki
(pronounced (Ray- key) means
"Universal
Life Energy" or simply "Life Energy."
Reiki
is a healing technique used to reduce stress and bring about relaxation.
Reiki is a ‘life force’ that is
available to everybody and can be tapped into at any time.
This life force energy is believed to flow unseen through all living
things. It flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras,
meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the
aura. As long as something is alive, it has life force circulating through
it and surrounding it; when it dies, the life force departs. When this flow
of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of
the organs and tissues of the physical body.
If your life force is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow,
you will be more vulnerable to illness. When it is high, and flowing freely,
you are less likely to get sick.
The
Chinese have studied this life force for many thousands of years and place
great importance on what they call ‘Chi’. In fact Traditional Chinese
Medicine is based on the idea of bringing about the balance of chi within in
the person and only then will health follow.
Is
Reiki Safe?
Reiki
is 100% safe. The practitioner merely provides the channel through which the
energy travels, and your own body puts it to use. Reiki can be used on everybody from babies to
the elderly and even animals!
What happens during a Reiki Treatment?
 The
intention of Reiki
is to heal the whole person, mind, body and spirit, via the bio-energetic
that surrounds and permeates the physical body. Having a Reiki treatment is usually deeply relaxing and beneficial
for many people. Many
say that they feel a warm glow when they are receiving a treatment or they may
feel sensations of hot, cold or tingling in various parts of their body,
some may ‘see’ colours as they relax. Others
may
feel nothing during a treatment but say they still
benefit after from Reiki therapy.
During
the treatment you will be asked to lie comfortably on the treatment table. You will not need to remove any clothing. The
reiki therapist will move around your body in a set pattern, feeling
for energy blockages and balancing the Chakras (see explanation below). They may place their hands
directly on you or they may move their
hands above, below or around you. Treatment
usually lasts up to an hour. Most
people feel very calm and deeply relaxed after Reiki and it can help
with all manner of problems. Reiki
energy will pass through the practitioner’s hands to your body and flow to where it is needed.
Reiki is
not a religion and you do not have to follow any particular faith or even
believe in Reiki itself to benefit from a treatment - it is not 'faith
healing'.
What are Chakras?
Reiki chakras are the same as the 7 major chakras
found throughout the ancient traditional healing systems from the Indian
subcontinent and the far East. Chakras are energy centres (vortices) in the energetic body
from the top of the head to the tip of the spine. They are positioned at key
areas where there are important endocrine glands & nerve plexuses. They are responsible for the
coordination and vitalization of all the bodies (physical, mental, astral and
physical) and their correlation with the soul, the main centre of
consciousness. There are seven major chakras and 42 lesser ones. The seven major charkas are; the Crown Chakra, the Third Eye Chakra,
the Throat Chakra, the Heart Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, the Sacral
Chakra and the Base Chakra.

Master Teacher, Lynn Elizabeth Evans is an
experienced healer and a Master/Teacher member of the UK Reiki Federation.
Lynn’s close lineage to Dr Mikau Usui is in the William Rand tradition. In
her teaching, Lynn draws on over ten years of dedicated personal practise,
including healing, human energy work, meditation and spiritual development
techniques.
You will be encouraged to learn through direct
experience of feeling, sensing and working with the energy, underpinned by a
clear understanding of the principles and practice of Reiki.
We offer an earthy, spiritual approach to
Reiki grounded in your own life and experience.
As your understanding grows you will be given
help to develop your spiritual awareness to your highest potential. There
is no philosophy or spiritual teachings, we honour your own realisations and
help you to discover your own spiritual direction.
Students enjoy ongoing support, which includes
access to our resource centre and our regular Reiki Shares which are an
opportunity to learn new techniques, practise Reiki, and share experiences
with other healers of all levels.
Can Anyone Learn Reiki?
Reiki
is not ‘taught’ so much as transferred by the Reiki Master to the
student. Anybody can learn
Reiki and use it in their everyday life. Thousands of people from all walks of life have learned to use Reiki.
It is simple, effective and can be taught quite quickly. It is simply passed from the reiki teacher to the student.
Initially, once
this has happens you can then use Reiki for yourself and with a few further
attunements and supporting knowledge, then you may be ready to use reiki on
other. The Reiki practitioner acts as a clear channel for the energy to flow
through to the client so no complicated skills are required. The practitioner does not use their own energy,
so does not become
tired or drained as the energy is simply passing through them.
Reiki Attunements
Reiki is passed from teacher to student
through a series of Attunements, or energetic empowerments.
Anybody can learn to be a healer and you do
not need to have any previous qualifications or experience in order to
receive the reiki Attunements.
Students also learn techniques to direct the
energies for particular purposes such as physical, emotional or distant
healing.
Reiki Courses
One Day Workshop £100
Reiki I is the first ‘degree’ or initiation
into the Reiki healing system. Along with practical training and knowledge
based learning, the day involves four Attunements, which activate energy
centres in your body to enable you to channel Reiki.
At the end of the day you will receive a
certificate and will be competent to treat yourself, your friends and
family. You will be given a manual to keep and a suggested reading list.
One Day Workshop £120
At Reiki second degree, you will deepen your
understanding of Reiki as a healing system. You will be given the Reiki
Symbols, which are the keys to this healing system and will be shown how to
use the symbols to direct and enhance the Reiki energy.
At this stage you will be qualified as a
practitioner of Reiki and you will be competent to practice as a healer.
Reiki IIIA - One Day Workshop £200
Reiki Third Degree develops the understanding
of Reiki from the system of healing on the physical, mental and emotional
levels. As a Reiki Master, you are invited to move beyond the practical
application of technique into the ‘higher’, esoteric aspects of the system.
In many ways Reiki III is a beginning. It is
the time to move beyond your learned knowledge and work directly from your
own highest consciousness and integrity.
Reiki IIIB - One Day Workshop and Ongoing
Mentoring £350
Reiki Master Teacher training is available for those
who feel ready to take the system forward as a teacher and to learn the
sacred Reiki Attunement techniques.
Ongoing support is available to reiki teachers
including workshop planning, mentoring and practical assistance.
