Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques
Sorry about the blip for a few days - The old system
expired before the new arrived.
With total overhaul of the Centre's site imminent, I hope
to get back to working on my NAET site. What to expect? More articles &
info on allergies, allergy related & autoimmune problems.
Who may be interested? I guess - anyone looking for treatment
for allergies and maybe other health care providers i.e. allergists & allergy clinics.
According to Allergy Magazine
A new form of alternative therapy called NAET is proving
popular in America and France. We look at what it can offer to allergy
sufferers here in the UK
words: roz lewis
It doesn't have a very good name. It isn't
particularly well known, and it has very few advocates from the medical
field to say that it works. However, NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy
Elimination Techniques) has a growing band of practitioners in the UK –
and much larger numbers in the States and on the Continent – who are
thrilled with what this alternative therapy can do for allergy
sufferers.
According to
Caroline Marks, a
practitioner working in the Wirral, Cheshire: I'm a natural sceptic,
but NAET really has impressed me. I have trained in aromatherapy and
reflexology, and wasn’t at all sure about what NAET could do for people.
But I’ve worked with some clients who are getting better from multiple
allergies; it is quite astounding.’Allergy
Magazine NAET article
What we say!
NAET is a radical new treatment
approach to allergies, which is not just allergy relief, but allergy
elimination. It has only fairly recently emerged from America and still
relatively unknown in the UK, with only a handful of UK NAET practitioners.
Put quite simply - We believe
NAET to be the single most effective treatment for allergies.
And that's from someone who has suffered a life time of allergies,
sensitivities & intolerances. Had I not happened across a Canadian
NAET Practitioner, that was practicing locally in Heswall (4 miles from
my home town of Neston), then I wouldn't be writing this.
For the first time I'd found a
treatment that didn't just help, but was actually addressing the
underlying cause of my problems. If this sounds dramatic, then I make no
apology. If you or someone you know has reached the point of being 'sick
of being sick', tired all the time (TAT), or any of a wide range of
chronic conditions, then your probably in the right place.
In short - any condition
associated with or the person has accompanying allergies, sensitivities,
intolerances or indeed anything that is related to the immune system
dysfunction could potentially be helped by NAET. That said, it seems
that many are completely unaware that certain foods aggravate their
arthritis, migraine or even asthma, when asthma, for example is a classic allergy
related problem.
With the massive
increase of allergies & allergy related problems in the UK our National
Health Service simply can not cope and any long term plans are doomed to
failure by lack of funding and tunnel vision when it comes to
alternative approaches. The whole area of food sensitivities &
intolerances is generally disregarded, except in the cases of lactose &
gluten intolerance (which are known to be under diagnosed in the UK) and
of course severe allergies that cause anaphylaxis, i.e. nut & peanut
allergy. Help for these consist of avoidance, adrenaline injections to
prevent death and antihistamines for everything else. The practicalities
of these and long term health of the patient seem to be of little
consideration and they are often left with - 'You'll just have to learn
to live with it.' We disagree - we believe that the large majority of
allergies can be eliminated by addressing the underlying cause and that
approaches that only give allergy symptom relief should be a short
term/emergency strategy only.

With NAET we define the term
Allergy in broad terms, as it was originally:-
Allergy - Allergic
Disease, Allergic Disorders, Allergic Illness
Viennese paediatrician Baron Clemens von Pirquet
coined the term "allergy" (from the Greek "allos" meaning changed or
altered state and "ergon" meaning reaction or reactivity) in 1906 [
]. Von Pirquet used the term to
describe an altered reaction he had observed in patients, which
he put down to the influence of external factors, an allergen ,
on the immune system.
Allergies are hypersensitivity reactions of the
immune system to specific substances called
allergens (such as pollen, stings, drugs, or food ) that, in most
people, result in no symptoms .
The most severe form of allergy is Anaphylactic shock
, which is a medical emergency.
Various types of classifications exist.
Allergy has different names depending upon where in body it occurs.

Are Allergies
The Hidden Cause Of Your Illness?
Allergies are still one of the
best kept secrets of medicine. In the 20th century, our biggest enemy
and cause of disease is no longer microbes but our inability to tolerate
relatively "new" foods like wheat and diary products. The other hidden
enemy is the 70,000 chemicals circulating in our environment to unknown
effect.
Asthma, arthritis, eczema,
irritable bowel syndrome, lupus, MS, ME, plus mental illnesses like
depression have as part or all of their cause substance intolerance.
THE
Allergy HANDBOOK - A What Doctors Don't Tell You Publication
Edited by
Lynne McTaggart
One in
two people, including up to 70% if the
chronically ill, suffers from a hidden food
allergy. Are you one of them?
Classic
symptoms that could
be causing you
unnecessary pain and
discomfort include:
*
weight gain * strong
food cravings *
bloating * abdominal
pain *
irritable bowel *
chronic fatigue *
rhinitis *
asthma *
ear infections *
joint aches and
pains *
hyperactivity and
bedwetting in
children *
itches and
rashes...and many
more.
If your
symptoms come and go
with no obvious
reason then you may
have a hidden food
allergy.
Food & Other Allergies, Sensitivities &
Intolerances
Food allergies in particular are
largely disregarded by the UK medical establishment. A quote from one
their standard texts (Davidson's Principles & Practice of
Medicine, 19th edition) will put you in the picture.
Food allergies are
immune-mediated disorders due to IgE antibodies and type 1
hypersensitivity reactions. Up to 20% of the population perceive
themselves as suffering from food allergy but only 1-2% of adults have
genuine food allergies. The most common culprits are peanuts, milk,
eggs, soya and shellfish.
So now you know why you may not
have been taken seriously if you've been to your doctor with suspected
food allergy related problems.
Another quote of interest from
the same text.
The diagnosis of food allergy is difficult to
prove or refute. Skin prick tests and measurements of
antigen-specific IgE antibodies in serum have limited predictive value.
Essentially this means that this
test is known to be unreliable and as for the treatment:-
strict elimination of
the offending antigen (allergen) and in some cases antihistamines or
sodium cromogliate. Anaphylaxis should be treated as a medical emergency
with resuscitation, airway support and intravenous adrenaline
(epinephrine).
So unless you have a very
obvious & immediate reaction, such as a large rash or collapse into
anaphylactic shock, then you're probably not going to be taken too
seriously.
If you just get symptoms
regarded as trivial in the above book i.e.
-
Joint pain & aches,
prone to inflammation & low 'pain threshold' - relieved by
avoiding citrus fruits, sugar, certain grains (especially wheat), etc.
-
Excessive wind -
aggravated by milk, sugar, bread, etc.
-
Constipation or IBS -
aggravated by eggs & any of the above.
-
Poor memory &
concentration - as above.
-
Excessive fatigue,
tired on waking, Tired All the Time (TAT), the need to have to 'drive'
yourself all the time - as above.
-
Insomnia, poor
quality of sleep general & irritability.
Or you may be aware of some
intolerance, sensitivity or allergy, from experience &/or from having an
allergy test.
-
Hay fever (seasonal
allergic rhinitis) - aggravated by local &/or seasonal pollens, etc.
More
-
Lactose intolerance -
the sugar found in milk, milk products & used as an additive in
processed foods. Being able to digest lactose is entirely dependent on
the ability to produce the specific enzyme called lactase, that breaks
it down into its component sugars. We may be born unable to produce
lactase or we can loose this ability due to long term (chronic) stress
or illness. It's recognised in the US as being up to 10% of those of
Asian origin & 1% of Caucasians. Unfortunately in the UK - the
Orthodox Medical view is that Caucasians don't get this unless they
have a serious bowel disease. There are even simple tests for this,
but they typically aren't done. This is especially unfortunate for
those that are unable to speak for themselves, such as the new born
suffering with colic. Parents often told that they'll grow out of it,
which they may, but how long are you prepared to let them suffer. As
well as excess & trapped wind, other symptoms typically include;-
excessive mucous production, headaches, sinusitis (sinus pain) &
swelling of the mucous membranes throughout the respiratory &
intestinal tracts. Most noticeably resulting in the narrowing of the
nasal passages when no mucous is present.
-
Asthma - aggravated
by animal dander (fur, hair & skin cells), house dust & dust mites,
etc.
These are just a few examples
off the top of my head & by no means exhaustive, but hopefully enough
for you to get the general idea.
Summary
-
You may have 'hidden'
allergies undermining your general health, when you may not have
considered that you may be reacting to foods & substances in the
environment. These can cause a huge range of symptoms, including some
that may have been diagnosed as other conditions.
-
That if you have any known
allergies, then you may well have other underlying allergies that all
put strain on your immune system causing it to react inappropriately
to every day substances.
-
That, now there is a treatment
that could potentially clear these allergies, so that you may again be
able to eat & do what you like without fear of allergic
reaction.
NAET
-
NAET is based on Traditional
Chinese Medical theory & practice, but does not require acupuncture
needles or herbs. It is a gentle, 'hands on', non-invasive treatment
approach. It is aimed at addressing what is believed to be the
underlying the cause.
-
It is not based on treating
the symptoms like taking antihistamines or steroids that may have
potentially harmful side effects.
-
Any avoidance of offending
substances is usually no longer than 25 hours after treatment for a
particular allergen or group of allergic substances . Other approaches using
long term avoidance can lead to an increase in sensitivity to the
substance, causing a more severe reaction should further contact
occur.
-
People of all ages &
dispositions may be treated with NAET.

More About NAET

One
minute I feel fine &
the next, I feel terrible.
It
seems that this question is asked by many people who enter their
doctors' surgeries, seeking answers to the misery of allergic reactions.
If you find yourself in this situation, then you may be familiar with
the feeling of frustration and hopelessness that is associated with this
condition. The lucky patients have isolated the specific allergen/s and
are able to avoid it, but for the less fortunate, the allergen either
cannot be avoided without complete isolation, or it remains undiagnosed
& may result in severe and chronic ailments.
Do
you mean that allergies can cause real illness?
They
certainly can!
When
a virus attacks, an amazing defence mechanism goes into action. The
struggle to rid the body of the invading virus we recognize as the
symptoms of illness, such as fever, coughing, aches, vomiting, fatigue,
etc. These are, in fact, signals of the battle that is going on inside
the body as it tries to throw off the invading toxins producing virus.
Untreated, the symptoms increase with serious results.
Similarly,
continuous contact with an allergen produces toxins in the body, causing
similar reactions to occur. An undiagnosed or undetected allergic
condition will produce conditions that are equally serious. Many times
the allergic reactions produce symptoms that mimic other conditions.
Respiratory
problems like bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma, circulatory problems
Like chest muscle pains, poor circulation, rapid heartbeats, heart
irregularities, gastro-intestinal problems Like indigestion, acute
abdominal pains, acute appendicitis, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea
and ulcers, genito-urinary problems like kidney and bladder infections,
prostate troubles, premenstrual syndromes and post-menstrual disorders,
impotency, infertility, musculo-skeletal problems, like
unexplained pains anywhere in the body, various types of headaches,
backaches, arthritis, restless leg syndrome, brain symptoms like brain
fog, depression, anger, attention- deficit disorders, hyperactivity,
learning disorders, skin problems like eczema, boils, slow healing
wounds, environmental reactions like multiple chemical sensitivity,
allergy to pollens, perfumes, animal dander, carpets, building
materials, etc... just about any health condition could be merely a
symptom of underlying allergies. If such conditions are not diagnosed
correctly, the patient may receive a treatment procedure that may
further complicate the patient's condition.
I'm
not just imagining them?
No.
You are not. Allergies in their mildest forms are merely nuisances. But
for some people, accidental contact with an allergen can produce
terrifying toxins in the body that result in clearly diagnosed illness
just as though that person had taken a poison.
Diagnosis
for either is not easy, but the milder the complaint, the harder it is
for the patient to get good treatment. For instance, how do you treat a
person for "feeling out of sorts, for a slight Loss of memory, for
a slight but persistent sore throat or cough, for a nagging, dull
headache that does not respond to pain medications, for a persistent
backache or a tingling feeling in the arms and hands that is unlikely to
be diagnosed by a neurologist?" Some of these unfortunate people
have seen their physicians so many times that they cannot tell you how
often they have been ignored, diagnosed as suffering from a
"nervous disorder" or been labelled a hypochondriac.
What
are allergies?
Medical
scientists are still researching to find the exact
cause and nature of
allergies, but may not have all the answers for years to come. From a Western
medical point of view, allergy is an over reaction
by the immune system. In NAET, allergies
are viewed from a holistic perspective, based on Oriental Medical
principles. An allergy is a condition of unusual sensitivity of a person
to one or more substances which may be harmless to the majority of other
individuals. In the allergic (or atopic) person, the allergic substance,
known as an allergen, is viewed by the central nervous system as a
threat to health.
Therefore,
for our purposes, an allergy is defined in terms of the effect of a
substance on the energy flow in the body in accordance with Traditional
Chinese Medicine. On contact with an allergen, blockages are triggered
in the energy pathways called meridians, or we can say, it disrupts the
normal flow of energy through the body's electrical circuits. This sort
of blockage causes a break down in communication between the
brain and body via the nervous system. This compromise in the
flow of energy is the first step in a chain of events which may develop
into an allergic response. It is the NAET view that allergies are the
result of energy imbalances in the body, leading to a diminished state
of health in one or more of the bodies systems.
Testing
and treating allergies
There
are several Conventional Western medical tests for, if you are fortunate
enough to be referred for allergies and none of which are known to be
reliable (by their own admission). Including;- intra-dermal, patch,
scratch, and various other blood tests such as the RAST test and the
ELISA test, which can identify dozens of allergens from one test or from
one blood sample.
Until
recently, there has been no satisfactory method for treating a person's
allergies. Desensitisation using injections of allergenic substances
over a period of months, or even years, has been the standard approach
used by medical allergists, mainly in the US. This approach is effective
in some people for some allergies, but in many it is not, especially
with food allergies / sensitivities / intolerances.
Another
standard treatment is using drugs to suppress an allergic response,
either antihistamines or steroids. Unfortunately, this does not correct
the underlying problem, and often can have serious long-term side
effects.
The
most effective treatment option until now has been complete avoidance of
the offending allergen/s. This can be difficult at best, and impossible
in some cases. Now, however, there is an alternative.
Now we
have NAET
"Nambudripad's
Allergy Elimination Techniques" is a truly revolutionary system for
dealing with allergies...
one of the most stubborn health problems facing mankind today. It is a natural, drugless, painless,
non-invasive method that can be used safely from a one-day-old infant to
anyone of advanced age, on a relatively healthy person to treat hidden
allergies that may be undermining their health & could cause
diseases in the future or on people in real suffering.
The aim of NAET is to permanently
eliminate allergies and therefore the symptoms arising from them.
Allergens
are cleared one at a time with this technique, and the best results seem
to be obtained if allergens are cleared in a specific sequence. Normally
only one item is treated on a given day. The substance must then be
completely avoided for 25 hours following the treatment. In most cases
that's seems to be all it takes for each allergen. Individuals who are
highly sensitive may sometimes require additional combination clearings.
Do
you mean there may
be a permanent treatment for
my health problems?
Indeed
there may. If your chronic health problem is due to underlying
allergies, sensitivities or intolerances, then it is quite possible that
NAET will help.
Thousands
of patients have been treated with amazing results, which as yet seem to
be permanent and you
can read some of their testimonials in Dr. Nambudripad's books.
Dr.
Nambudripad's knowledge in Eastern and Western medicine gave her the
insights and guided her into the discovery of this unique treatment that
blends oriental medicine principles, acupuncture and chiropractic
techniques, kinesiology and nutrition (and does not require the use of
any medication or injections). This helped her to overcome her own
serious allergic reactions to foods. Her story is an impressive one,
which is appropriate for the discoverer & developer of such a
revolutionary treatment approach.
She
tells her story in the book,
"Say
Goodbye To Illness".
It also contains lots of case histories of various health disorders,
as well as some of the theoretical basis for the technique and the
details of its discovery. It is recommended reading for anyone wanting
to find relief from their allergies, and for anyone with a chronic
health problem large or small. People fly to Southern California from
all over the world to be treated by Dr. Nambudripad with
NAET.
Now
it may be available near you, although at present there are few
practitioners in the UK & Europe in general. If you are not local to
our Holistic Centre (Wirral, Merseyside or Cheshire), then check the practitioner
database on the NAET for Europe website.
In
the USA Dr. Nambudripad has trained thousands of doctors of acupuncture,
allopathic medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic and various other licensed
medical practitioners in her allergy elimination treatment method. More
and more doctors are being trained through her regular training
seminars, some of which now take place in Europe.
