Allergy Testing

What's involved in an 'allergy test' session and what an 'Allergy Tester' does!

Peter Burgess Dip BER

Peter qualified with a Diploma in Bio-Energetic Medicine from Bio-Medscan, Halifax in December 2001 & offers Allergy Testing, MORA Therapy, Aqua-Detox & Bach Flower Remedies.

The British Allergy Foundation estimates that up to 45% of the UK population suffers from illness related to food sensitivities (at some time or other) and it is similar in other Western countries.

Asthma

Cases of asthma have doubled in the last ten years.

Asthma causes one death every four hours and over one in five households have one or more member suffering from asthma.

Out of all child admissions into hospital, 50% are asthma related.

One of the main triggers for an allergic reaction is the common dust mite.

The dust mite and its waste is responsible for 80% of asthma and countless eczema cases.  Up to 2 million dust mites live in one double bed.

Four million people in the UK alone suffer from dust mite allergies.

Other triggers are bee/wasp stings, pollen, animal dander and certain foods.

DIET & WEIGHT

Weight Fluctuations are very often associated with fluid retention problems.  In fact marked weight fluctuation (maybe several pounds within twenty four hours) can be directly caused by food intolerance.

A study into irritable bowel syndrome at the Radcliffe Royal Infirmary found that 39% of patients found wheat to be contributing factor to their IBS after completing an eliminative diet.

In a study on migraines in children at the Hospital for Sick Children, Dr. Egger found that 24% of those studied had migraines as a reaction to wheat.

Trials by Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1983, set out to discover whether migraine in children was a food allergy.  On a restricted diet they had a 93% success rate in curing the migraines.  Cows' milk and cheese were found to be the number 1 culprits.  Interestingly the children had relief from many other ailments while eliminating dairy produce.

The testing method is within the field of Bio-Energetic Regulatory Medicine (BER Medicine). The equipment used is the German made Mora RMS10.

Bio-Energetic allergy testing equipment used is the German made Mora RMS10 device.

The patient holds an electrode whilst the practitioner electronically measures the sensitivity to certain products by touching the tip of the finger (or toe) with a measuring tip. Ampoules of substance are placed in a "Honeycomb" one at a time to indicate sensitivity to certain products.

Bio-Energetic allergy testing equipment the Mora RMS10 device in use.

NB. Only children of 7-8 years of age upwards can be tested. This is mainly to do with their ability to sit sensibly and can grasp an understanding of the test procedure.

The Test procedure is non invasive and we do not take blood!

Allergy Test FAQ's

Does it Hurt?

No, the testing is non-intrusive and completely pain free.

How long does it take for the test results?

The Allergy Test results are given at the end of the consultation.

Can Children be tested?

Yes, minimum age for testing children is 5 years old.  Please note that the child must be able to sit still for approximately 30 minutes during testing.

Will I need more than one treatment?

We recommend that you return for a follow up test after 3 months so that we can monitor your progress and advise on the safe re-introduction of foods into your diet.

Will I have to give up certain foods altogether?

No, we will compile your own personal elimination programme with a view to re-introducing the problem foods back into your diet after a minimum of 3 months.

Will it affect any medication I am taking?
This is a complimentary diagnostic therapy that combines well with traditional medicine.

NB This type of allergy test tests for the reaction of the bio-energetic system of the person to a particular food or other substance. This in our opinion is a reliable indicator of allergy, sensitivity, hypersensitivity and intolerances. This method should not be confused with the blood test types of allergy & sensitivity that only looks for specific immune system reactions i.e. the production of IgE (classic allergic response) and IgG (accumulative hypersensitivity & sensitivity). As yet there are no blood allergy tests that are known to be reliable and some studies have even found no immunological indicators in the blood in groups of people with obvious atopic / allergic reactions.

I would happily discuss this with anyone of another opinion and am open to any new evidence to the contrary.

Andrew.
